The architectural mesh products manufactured from The Western Group are used to enhance the beauty, healthiness, and safety of interior and exterior spaces. Mesh allows for natural airflow and filtered light penetration, which can help reduce a building’s operating costs.

The Western Group’s in-house team of architecturally-trained designers, engineers and project managers focuses on helping clients achieve their vision on every project. From early conceptual brainstorming and cost analysis to shop drawings and product delivery, they are with you each step of the way.

Living Screen®

Adding greenery to your design has many benefits: improved air quality, natural shading & cooling, noise & pollution reduction are among them.

Adding greenery to your design has many benefits: improved air quality, natural shading & cooling, noise & pollution reduction are among them.

The Western Group’s Living Screen® system is made of modular parallel-paneled grids of welded wire which are fabricated into a growing surface for climbing plants. Living Screen® can be used to enhance mundane parking structure façades or to enliven barren landscapes. This product creates beautiful transitions between nature and the built environment. Adding greenery to your design provides many benefits including improved air quality, natural shading and cooling, and noise and pollution reduction.

Living Screen® panels can be easily adapted into existing or new construction. Constructed of welded steel wire, this modular trellis system intertwines organic and manmade elements to coexist in harmony with one another and provides a strong biophilic design component to seamlessly connect people with the surrounding natural environment. Living Screen® panels may be wall-mounted to existing or new construction or may be post- mounted as fences or partitions. Living Screen panels are manufactured to exact size requirements – made to fit your needs, not limited to a few standard shapes and sizes.

Living Screen® is typically built in widths ranging from 2’ to 5’ and from 2’ to 20’ tall. However, dimensions outside of these ranges are often possible. Screens may be supplied as unfinished steel, Galfan steel, stainless steel or exterior grade powder coated. Mesh variations may include larger or smaller square or slotted patterns that create a “no-climb” mesh.

Welded Wire

Welded Wire can be manufactured from any Steel Wire: mild, galvanized and stainless. We successfully produce welded products in square and rectangle configurations, sometimes doing both shapes in custom patterns. Typically, both wires are run straight, and the cross wire is welded to the back, perpendicular to the front plane of wire.

Woven Wire

Woven wire is versatile: it lends itself to customization via mesh varieties, opening sizes, wire sizes, and a series of material choices. The Western Group offers 12 distinct patterns for woven wire that can be manufactured in a variety of metals.

Locally Made

With eleven facilities across the United States and Canada, most major metropolitan areas are located within 500 miles of The Western Group facilities. This allows The Western Group to meet your needs in weeks, not months – which can be the case when products are shipped overseas.

Sustainability

The Western Group emphasizes sustainability in all they do, using materials that are greater than 90% recycled and that are 100% recyclable. They also strive to control waste in all apects of their processes. Those efforts can assist in achieving sustainability goals and LEED certifications.
